From the Master’s Table?
Will you be thankful for the crumbs from the Master’s table? I am not speaking of an earthly master! I am, even now, daily and in every minute, thankful for what I have been given. I am even more thankful for what The Master offers for the future. It goes far beyond the “crumbs.” Jesus Christ offers Insight into what he offers us if we will but accept and believe in Him and his Heavenly Father. Faith, as evidenced by doing His will, will be rewarded with eternal life. Consider the following scripture from the book of Matthew in the Holy Bible:
22 And behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil.
23 But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us.
24 But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
25 Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me.
26 But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children’s bread, and to cast it to dogs.
27 And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table.
28 Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour. Matthew 15:22-28 King James Version (KJV)5
Commentary from referenced source provides explanation for verse 26:
15:26 children’s. “The lost sheep of the house of Israel” (v.24). dogs. The Greek says “little dogs,” meaning a pet dog in the home, and Jesus’ point was that the gospel was to be given first to Jews. The woman understood Jesus’ implication and was willing to settle for “crumbs.” Jesus rewarded her faith (v.28).
I will be thankful if I but receive the “crumbs!”
